Shelter Pets

YOUR DONATIONS ARE USED FOR:

Toys, toys, toys

Your donations supply toys--dog and cat - and rabbit!.  It's always time for new toys!

Kennel supplies

Your donations pay for towels, dog beds for the dogs and puppies, cozy beds for the kittens and cats, crates, dog and cat food bowls, litter boxes, kitty scratching posts, cardboard carriers, and kennel signs.

Outreach and education

Your donations fund the purchase of educational brochures and pamphlets and coloring books.

Adoption Events

Shelter "open houses" and off-site adopt-a-thons are a regular occurrence.  Your donations provide funding for promotion and "special touches" - decorations, Halloween candy or Christmas stockings and treats for the pets.

Veterinary - Angel Fund

"We need a quick x-ray to make sure a kitten is "mended" and ready for adoption.  Can you help?"  Of course!  "We've got a momma dog--all eight of her puppies are adopted and she's left.  We have people who are interested in her but she needs surgery.  Can you help?"  Yes!  Help us maintain this special fund for "special needs" animals.

Spay/Neuter programs

When the budget and reality clash, your donations are there to help fill in the gap to keep these important projects going.  Spay/neuter programs are at the heart of stemming pet overpopulation problems in Albuquerque.

Foster program

We are extremely pleased to help with the foster program.  This program saves lives every day!!  The foster parents supply the love and we supply the replacement milk for the puppies and kittens, or food and bedding for older dogs who need to be out of the shelter.

Grooming
Electric clippers, replacement clipper blades, combs, brushes, grooming shears, hair dryers--the animals have to look their best!

Community Pets

YOUR DONATIONS ARE USED FOR:

Our Pet Food Pantry

We don't want ANY dog or cat to go hungry, so we depend on donations to supply dog and cat food for our community Pet Food Pantry. Helping to feed community pets in need will help keep them with their families and OUT of the shelter. We accept monetary dentations, food donations, and donations of time to help work the food pantry.

Bedding and Coats to keep Community Dogs Warm and Cozy

Your donations help provide warm coats and blankets for community dogs. We don't want ANY pets to be cold.

Outreach and education

Your donations help our staff to go out into the community to meet people and pets where they live.

Veterinary Care

Sometimes, in order to avoid being surrendered to the shelter, pets may need help with basic veterinary care to return to health and remain with their families.

Spay/Neuter programs

When the budget and reality clash, your donations are there to help fill in the gap to keep these important projects going.  Spay/neuter programs are at the heart of stemming pet overpopulation problems in Albuquerque.

HOW CAN you BE A FRIEND?

Volunteer

If you have some time to "spare", consider becoming an Animal Care Center Volunteer.    Kennel Kompadres is proud to support the volunteers and their good work!  What better way to help the animals than to help counsel prospective adopters, greet and help the public, and care for and socialize the animals.  You can choose!  Be a foster parent, work with the "Fraidy Cats", walk the dogs, help in the office, or help teach "social skills."  The choice is yours!  Because the budget for this program is limited, we happily fill in the gaps, especially when it comes to providing recognition for these hard-working folks.  Volunteers supply the work, we supply the pizza!!
